If you’re looking for a Slumdog Millionaire experience, head to Dharavi. Tourists come here to explore the slum’s everyday life. There is no need to hire a tourist guide since the people here are willing to help you. With a population of 1.5-1.6 million, the slum is spread over a 2 km radius. Houses on both sides of narrow gullies with low-hanging electric wires and 2-3 meters wide. There are mostly workers who do labor jobs, such as car drivers, tailors, delivery workers, etc. There are very humble people living there, and they let you see how they live by letting you into their houses. The average house has a carpet area of 5 meters by 8 meters, including a kitchen and drawing room, and it can house four to five people.

2Dhobi Ghat

Chor Bazar was originally called Shor Bazar because shopkeepers used to shout for customers to come to their shops. After Britishers were unable to pronounce ‘shor’ prominently, Chor Bazar became the market’s name. The market has been famous for second-hand goods since the British ruled the country. In the bazaar, you can find anything from automobiles, antiques, film posters, and furniture to electronic gadgets. You’ll find practically anything here.

You must know how to bargain if you wish to purchase something from there. It is open from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Sunday, and it is closed on Fridays. On Fridays, a special early bird market opens from 4:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. If you are a curious explorer or a seasoned collector, Chor Bazaar is a place you won’t want to miss.
