Travelling around the world, a backpack on your shoulders, and a camera hanging around your neck. That is the stuff of what dreams are made of! And just how cool it is to be a travel photographer? It involves travelling and clicking pictures to make a living! Almost convincing me to become one myself but sadly my photography skills leave much to be desired *quietly sobs*.
Having said that, India is a great country to travel around and has some of the most diverse, beautiful, and photogenic landscapes that you as a travel photographer could possibly get. It does not matter whether you are a professional photographer or an amateur, you are taking the photos for yourself first then to show other people. So do not be daunted by it, I know I do not, and go to any or all of these locations for the best photographs ever!
1The Holi City Of Varanasi
A city that is alive with all the colours just bursting from its seams, Varanasi has always been the favourite treat of photographers from all over the world! It is the living embodiment of the concept known as the circle of life and of moksha, where people often visit to disperse the ashes of their loved ones in the hopes of them getting a place in heaven and to wash away their sins in the holy Ganga river. While some of them may be sad occasions, they make up for some beautiful shots simply for the stories they tell. At night, the ghats of the city light up for one of the most spectacularly beautiful displays you can ever see, making it one of the best places for travel photography in India.

Want to live that Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani dream? Taking a trip to Manali, one of the best places for travelling in India either with your friends, or going trekking, riding down through the market on a cart after getting into trouble, sounds so fun, right?! With its lush green valleys, towering snow-capped mountains, and the beautiful cityscape and that of the towns around it; you will rarely find someone there without a camera who is not trying to catch the beauty for themselves and take it home. Visit the beautiful Solang Valley and Rohtang Pass for some snow shots and the most mesmerising views!

In the land of majestic forts, grand palaces, and amazing sand dunes, it is next to impossible to click a bad picture in Rajasthan. One of the best places for travelling in India and the most popular, the vibrancy of the colours you will see in any lane or even on the highway is simply an unmatched experience. Floating on the waters of the river Sarovar is this majestic shrine made out of gold where, as soon as you enter, you are almost instantly impacted by the positive vibrations that just seem to be in the air. Such a calming and relaxing sight, with the beautiful golden reflection in the surrounding waters, make for a mesmerising capture. 5The Old Glory Of Kolkata
If you are a photographer, and love stories about Colonial India, then there is no better place than Kolkata, or Calcutta as the locals call it. The old buildings from the British Raj, the trams, and the hand-drawn carriages make the city look like something straight out of a Tagore novel or any typical fantasy story. With many calling it the artistic and cultural capital of India, there is no doubt that it would be one of the most photogenic spots and one of the best places for travelling in India.
6The Spectacular Wilds Of Ladakh
If you are a biker, and a travel photographer, by now you should have done the infamous Ladakh bike trip with countless pictures filling up your camera’s memory! A beautiful valley nestled between the Himalayas and the Karakoram mountains, its brilliant landscapes with the numerous monasteries and traditional houses are a paradise that perhaps are the most deserving to be captured.
